The Toronto Dingos celebrated what was a truly amazing 2023 AFLO season on Saturday November 11th, holding their annual club awards night at sponsor Black Lab Brewing's bar.
The night kicked off recognizing this year's milestone men; Greg Gilbert, Yoni Moussadji & Mike Karas before inducting two new life members. 100 Gamer Patrick Bossey & current Dingo Treasurer Stephen "Gordo" Gordon were awarded life membership, joining the group of 16 life members.
AFLO Team Of The Year Member Ben Sinclair maintained his title of Leading Goal Kicker from 2022, leading the Dingos by slotting 32 majors in the 2023 season, whilst fellow Aussie & new teammate Chris "CJ" Jepson took home the Coach's Award after a fantastic debut season in the Red & Black.
Rookie Matt Howell was recognized by coach Mick McFarlane for his dedication to skills development and improvement throughout the year, awarded the Most Improved Player Award.
Captain Mike Bocian took home the Player's Player award for the second year running, being recognized by his teammates for his on field efforts game in & game out. Vice Captain Ben Sinclair was recognized for his off-field efforts taking home the Jacob Steinberg (Best Clubman) Award.
In no surprise to anyone, rookie Matteo Lugarini capped off his magnificent debut season for the Dingos doing the double and taking home the Rookie Of The Year Award, as well as the Craig Stewart Award (Best & Fairest) for a Canadian/International player with 56 votes. The Australian Best & Fairest award came down to the wire, with 2022 club champion Ben Sinclair edging out Chris Jepson in the final round to take home the honours for the second year straight.
With the official celebrations of the 2023 season now in the rearview mirror, the Dingos will begin their preparations to go one step further in 2024. Stay tuned for more information on our our upcoming pres-season training sessions and how you can #jointhepack.
