This week Nate "Doc" Blakely joined Sports Breakfast (Sports FM) to talk about his footy experiences in Canada, the Toronto Dingos Football Club and how he's now a fan of the Sherrin footy over Burley!

"Most of them are from serious sports backgrounds," Doc said. "We had a couple of guys like Rowan Kelly and Texas who played high-level lacrosse in college and university and played in front of 10 or 20,000 sometimes."

Blakely also named something every Canadian player on our list will recognize. Once college ends, you either turn pro or you stop playing. Aussie Rules gives those athletes somewhere to compete again, even when friends and family ask why they're still putting so much into sport. The results show how quickly they can adapt to the sport.

"Some of these guys just come along very quickly and end up representing Canada at the national level. In our team we had 6 or 7 guys that made the Ontario team in their first year and the way that they've developed their skills and taken on the game is quite impressive," Doc said. "I guess, it shows that the sports and skills are quite transferable if you’ve got a good sports brain."
