The AFL Ontario annual awards gala was held last night where the league awarded it's regular season awards, where some familiar names from your 2024 Toronto Dingos team were featured heavily.
Coach Justin Robertson was recognized for a stellar season behind the magnets, being named the 2024 coach of the year, whilst Dingo Full Forward, Ben Sinclair, added another medal to his growing shelf taking out the league goal kicking award for the 2024 season.
Club and league executive board member Matthew Hastas, was recognized for his volunteer work at both the league and club level, and awarded the Bruce Parker Medal.
First year Dingo Brayden Beks was recognized for his amazing year on ball, edging out Rebel Andrew Brown by two votes to capture the 2024 Daimin Bodnar Medal (Best & Fairest).
However, the most prominent display of the dominance the Dingos have shown throughout the 2024 season was seen in the 2024 Men's All Ontario Team, which featured a total of seven (7) Dingos!
The Dingos midfield, which has been carving through opponents since the first bounce of the 2024 season, featured heavily in the All Ontario Team. Matteo Lugarini, Brayden Beks & James Talbot all featured across the centre line, with defensive midfielder Keegan Hogarth also being named on the interchange.
Full Forward Ben Sinclair picked up his third All Ontario selection in as many seasons, and was joined by French national player Ludo Barrat in the forward line, with Dingo's Coach Justin Robertson named as head coach of the team.
Of the successful awards night, the Dingos coach and president had this to say:
"To the award winners — Beksy, Mattie, Ben Sinclair and the half dozen all star players — all have worked really hard over a long period of time on and off the field and they deserved the league-wide recognition."
Adding:
"We’re looking forward to September now and can’t wait for finals footy."
The Toronto Dingos will now be turning their focus to finals footy, where they will have the chance to play for a spot in the 2024 AFL Ontario Grand Final on Saturday September 7th.
