The Toronto Dingos moved to a 2-0 start on the season, weathering a fierce third quarter challenge to run out 63-point winners over a resilient Ottawa Swans outfit at Colonel Samuel Smith Park on Saturday.
While the Dingos controlled the contest in the early scrap, the Swans refused to go quietly, putting together a gritty third-term fightback that dragged the margin back to 26 points and threatened to turn the match into a late-afternoon cliffhanger.
But any hopes of an Ottawa heist quickly ended in the second half. The Dingos found another gear when it mattered, piling on six unanswered goals in the last quarter-and-a-half. The final siren confirmed a solid 11.13 (79) to 2.4 (16) victory, with 24 scoring shots to six.
The Dingos have a bye in Round 3 (June 6) and will head to Mohawk Park in Hamilton June.13.
