Dingos Advance To The 2023 AFL Ontario Grand Final

Dingos 10.6 (66) defeated Eagles 4.9 (33)

For the first time in 10 years, the Dingos have earned themselves a spot to play for the 2023 AFL Ontario Premiership, after defeating the Toronto Eagles by 5 goals on Saturday September 16.

The game was tightly contested in the first half, with both teams showing patches of dominance through the midfield and defense to keep the scoring low. Both teams traded goals throughout this period and rued some missed opportunity to gain momentum early in the game. The Eagles to a slender lead into the main break through a goal after the siren.

As the match entered the second half, the Dingos were able to break away early in the third with forward Ben Sinclair and AFLO Rookie Of The Year, Matteo Lugarini, nabbing 3 goals in quick succession to give them some breathing room.

This forward dominance was partnered with a defensive brick wall led by Captain Mike Bocian and first-year Dingo Brad Wooten, who continued to repel the Eagles attacks and turn defense into offence.

Both teams continued to battle in the last, but in the end the grit and determination of this Dingos squad kept coming to the forefront. A couple more goals from Sinclair & Lugarini made the task near impossible for the Eagles to overcome, before midfielder C. Jepson snapped truly to ice the game and send the Dingos off to the Grand Final.

The Dingos will be facing off against the Toronto Rebels next Saturday, September 23rd, at 3pm for the AFL Ontario 2023 Premiership. We encourage all alumni and families to get down to Humber College South and cheer on the Red & Black as we look to win our first Premiership since 2005.
